| . | Guru Purnima is the Full moon of July. The
next one occurs July 13, 2003. The original Guru Purnima celebrated
the Enlightenment of one of the original SatGurus of the Vedic Tradition,
Sri Ved Vyasa, the Sage who wrote down the Vedas thousands of years ago
with the help of Sri Ganesh. It is great that one of Ved Vyasa's
Ashrams still exists under a huge ancient Banyan tree in Naimesharanya,
a tiny village just Northwest of Lucknow. The Brahma Chakra Tirtha
is also there marking the place where the weapon of Brahma fell to earth
and where the 'veil of illusion' is very thin to this day. It makes
for a great day trip from Lucknow.
Since then Guru Purnima is a special day to Celebrate your SatGuru, the one who has shown you the Light of THAT, who has removed the veil. We are so incredibly lucky to have found the SatGuru much less celebrate THAT. There are so many stories around how this day has been celeberated around Papaji. For instance, one year when we hung over 2000 meters of marigold and rose garlands. If you have any favorite stories or would like to add to this page or site in any way, please let me know at prashanti at igc.org 1998 Celebrations happened all over the world: in Lucknow and Gangotri (see below), in Taos with Ram Charan and Sanjay, in Marin at Kailash's house, in Tiruvannamalai, in Byron Bay with Kumari and Raman, in LA with Yudhishtara, and in Seattle with Hanuman. A Letter from Papaji's House Monsoon has arrived, and the temperature has gotten a bit cooler-
just in time for Guru Poornima. We will be having both a morning
Puja and Bhajans, here at the house, and an evening celebration at Satsang
Bhawan, for our Beloved Papaji. We would like to invite everyone
